  1. I’m looking forward to this one. I am curious as to what sort of system this game is going to run with. Is it similar to Maid?

  2. I’m looking forward to finally finishing it! Panty Explosion and Maid are very different game systems with very different focuses, but if you like one it’s a good bet you’ll like the other.

One of the main differences between the two games is that Panty Explosion gives the duties of narration to the players. When your character succeeds at an action, the player you chose as your best friend gets to describe what happens. She’ll get to decide exactly what your success looks like and how it plays out, and will move forward based on that description. If your fail, your rival gets to describe what happens, and she can turn any simple failure into an unforgettably humiliating experience or a life threatening situation.

  6. I ended up picking up the bundle. I haven’t played the original release, but with a name like “Panty Explosion Perfect”, how could I resist?

  7. Thanks! I think you’ll dig it. It’s got detachable heads and demons that eat hair and all kinds of fun stuff. Of course, the other two games are pretty ace as well!

  8. I’ll be honest, you pretty much had me sold with “Kick Demon ass with the sword that houses the soul of your murdered step-mother”. And then I checked the website and saw the ability “Make Heads Explode”, and that was just icing on the cake.

As for the other two games, while I’ll admit I’m not 100% sold on “G x B”, “Tulip Academy’s Society for Dangerous Gentlemen” looks to be as fun as “Panty Explosion Perfect” does. (Did I mention that is a super awesome name, by the way?)

  11. So, If I already have the first version of Panty Explosion, what additional content would this add?

    Comment by linger — May 5, 2011 @ 1:46 am

  12. Well, the original game is still playable, and the new game wouldn’t really add anything. actually, it would take a lot away! The new version of the game is really, really streamlined and simplified, designed to cut out unnecessary stuff to create a better role play and story telling experience. So what you’d be getting is game that’s much easier to play and teach, which is great if you’ve had trouble getting people to play with you. It’s also just a lot more fun. You’re also getting a lot more art, manga and instructional illustrations, which also makes the game a lot easier to understand and play. What you’ll lose is the dice pool mechanic of the Godai, the overly complicated character creation system and the convoluted action sequence. I don’t think you’ll miss them!

Or how about this: If you like the original game you’ll love the new edition.

  13. @jake: So basically, I’d get an entire new game.

  21. The art looks different, but it’s still Panty Explosion. Has the game mechanics changed much from when you first released this game? I still haven’t been able to wrangle the right crowd to play this.. 8(

    Comment by John M — April 6, 2012 @ 4:50 am

  22. Kind of. The game plays pretty much the same, but the mechanics are much streamlined. It’s easier to play and much faster to teach. It’s both a better edition and a better game. I think the new book, which is full of comics and illustrated instructions, is much more approachable and new player friendly.

  23. I can see a very nice video game taking place in this universe. A high school sim with dungeon crawling and classic RPG combat, with a feel like a quirky Persona game. It’s too bad my paper RPG group never gets together anymore, I can’t play it by myself.

    Comment by TenkaLion — January 17, 2013 @ 4:40 pm

  24. That sounds like it would be a lot of fun, huh? I wish I had some skills for making video games!
